Happy Sabbath! I am delighted to bring you two mission stories on this blessed Sabbath morning. Our first story is about 10-year-old Bilha Tuitoek who, along with her family, discovers the true Sabbath. She then experiences cultural differences of her native home, Eldoret, Kenya, and her new home, Tempere, Finland. Our second story details the ventures of Daniela Marinkovi and her struggles with higher education in the Serbian cities of Belgade and Novi Sad.
Big Trip to Finland

Bilha Tuitoek was 10 years old and living at a boarding school in Kenya hen she got the telephone call.
“I have a big announcement,” Mother said. “I am moving to Finland to study nursing.”
Bilha couldn’t believe that Mother would leave her with Father, her sister, and her two brothers in Africa to travel to Europe. She wasn’t even sure where Finland was located on the map.
“I’m going because I want you to have a better life,” Mother said. “I will send for you as soon as I can.”

Back to School

Daniela Marinkovi’s parents never studied beyond high school, and one of their biggest dreams was to see their daughter graduate from the university.
But Daniela rebelled under what she felt were unfair expectations.
“This isn’t your decision but my own,” she declared. “I’ll do whatever I want with my life.”
Still, to make her parents happy, she entered a university in Belgrade to study the Russian language. Because this wasn’t her first choice, she studied halfheartedly and soon quit.
